Welcome and invitation to dialogue

Posted on December 1, 2012 at 7:26 PM
Hello and welcome to the Transitions Blog...a service of Positive Transitions, a nursing education consultation site.  Nursing education is a in a state of flux due to the many initiatives resulting from the IOM report and the expectations for the expansion of the nurses' role as the new healthcare focus  impacts the preparation of new nurses.  I invite my colleagues in the world of nursing education and nursing service to share their views, questions, comments, and concerns on this blog.  I look forward to the dialogue with you all.

This will be a great blog. I am wondering if anyone else wonders why nurse educators aren't eligible for APRN? They are Masters prepared and have more responsibility in the clinical scenario than anyone!

This is a blog for nurse educators; really can't comment on some of the product comments. We have just enjoyed National Nurses Week and as nurse educators we can be very proud of the new nurses we educate every day in nursing programs across the country. Be proud of what you do as an advanced practice nurse in the educational environment. Don't let anyone tell you that what you do is NOT a specialty...I will refute that believe til the end of time!!

You are right on, Teresa; we are indeed advanced practice nurses in the specialty of nursing education. We need to join forces to facilitate this across the country. I am up for the challenge; how about you? We need to get together soon to catch up...

As we look forward to spring, the words renewal and reflection come to mind. As nurse educators, we experience a unique stress that can affect our overall health and well being. Take the time to reflect and renew your spirit as we enter a new season...take stock of the status of your professional and personal development. Positive Transitions can help you accomplish this through our new workshop, REFLECTION, RENEWAL AND REDESIGN. Call 302-270-7955 or email [email protected] for further information.

Hello Nursing Faculty
I am betting many of you are on Spring Break and hopefully enjoying good weather and an opportunity to rejuvenate, relax, and renew your energies in preparation for returning to the hectic spring semester preparations for the end of the academic year. I hope you are taking the time to explore options for your own personal and professional growth and development. It's a great time to review all those opportunities to submit abstracts for publications or presentations coming up in the fall and spring of 2019. Good to put yourself out there and let the world know your thoughts, ideas, research outcomes, etc. If you are serving on committees that require your expertise in curriculum, test construction, student evaluation or other faculty expertise areas it's a good time to hone your skills with workshop attendance or professional reading. Thank you for all that you do for nursing education. Enjoy your break!
